How This Publisher Increased Revenue and Playbacks with Ezoic’s Video Player

Video is the fastest-growing content medium out there and is only becoming more popular. Google will often even rank videos over written content because it has become increasingly evident that many users are beginning to prefer watching a video over reading a blog.

If you’re creating video content, you’re likely using one of the more popular video platforms. However, relying solely on these platforms to get your videos out there can be precarious because you don’t own your content—the platform does.

Ezoic’s Video Player provides publishers the opportunity to own their content and generate revenue off of video ads. With Ezoic’s Video Player, publishers can insert videos on different pages and be directly indexed in search results, earning site engagement, views, and search engine traffic.

Though it is one of Ezoic’s newer features, many publishers have found success using the Video Player to monetize their videos and receive more traffic. One particular website,, has seen significant growth globally through using Ezoic’s Video Player.

The publisher’s journey

The publisher of this site started the website in 2010, when the team saw there was a clear lack of an online English-to-Spanish PDF Translator, which could be made available to the entire online community free of charge.

Subsequently, they developed an online document translator where anyone can upload a document and have it translated to any other language. Since then, the site has expanded its capabilities to offer translations between 108 languages, supporting all major document formats, including PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and plain text files.

“We asked ourselves, ‘why use a paid document translator service when one could be offered free of charge to anyone in the world?'” said the publisher. “We wanted to build something that would help bring people together, regardless of language, and that has been our mission from day one.”

Reflecting back on beginning the website, the publisher states that developing the initial technology was the hardest part of starting the website, as it was the first of its kind at the time.

“It’s been an ongoing activity for over 10 years now and constantly requires improvements and fine-tuning, upgrading of underlying technical stacks, infrastructure enhancements, and so on,” said the publisher. “An enormous amount of resources have gone into creating a stable, usable solution which is capable of processing the many document types which are found ‘in the wild.’”

In 2019, integrated with Ezoic. Though originally a skeptic about the display ads revenue lift promised, the publisher immediately was able to see improvements. Ezoic even exceeded what was originally pitched to him!

Using Ezoic’s Video Player

Two years later in April 2021, the publisher implemented Ezoic’s newest product at the time, the Ezoic Video Player. The team began using the Video Player to help create some multi-lingual ‘how-to’ tutorial videos so users can better understand how to use the services provided on

“We believe these videos have been very helpful in increasing our general outreach to users across the world and in varying languages aside from English,” said the publisher.

After beginning to use Ezoic’s Video Player in April 2021,’s video revenue increased by 148% in just 7 months. Additionally, 2022 has been a very successful year thus far for the website; video playbacks (count of play button pressed in video player) increased 74% from the beginning of January 2022 to the end of May.

One of the publisher’s continual goals is to organically gain more traffic to the website. In the past, the publisher has primarily relied on providing a service that is truly valuable to its users, who then spread the word.

“Essentially, close to 100% of our marketing efforts are done by our users themselves by providing them the capability to share their experience with our document translation service via ‘share’ buttons, and via inbound links created on third-party technical and language blogs,” said the publisher.

Since Ezoic’s Video Player allows publishers’ videos to be indexed in search results, this provides with even more opportunities to be found in organic search; visits improved 70% in seven months in 2021 after implementing Ezoic’s Video Player when compared to the beginning of the year.

Ezoic’s Video Player is coming out of beta and is available for all Ezoic users. It was recently updated to include an Overview tab, where you can see your revenue and plays and compare week to week and month to month.
